Emma & Matt

It was late in the gloriously hot, dry summer of 2025 when we hosted the wedding of the gorgeous Emma & Matt. Our final celebration of the season, and what a truly fabulous way to end the year.

The couple booked their wedding with us back in June 2023, and not long afterwards were relocated to Sydney, Australia for work. From the very beginning, we reassured them that planning from the other side of the world would be completely seamless. With Teams calls, detailed planning support, and a few precious UK visits along the way, we made sure everything came together effortlessly — distance proving no barrier at all to creating their dream day.

The structure

Emma & Matt chose the beautiful FM Tents three-pole canvas marquee to host their wedding breakfast, dancefloor, and bar. They added a stretch tent overlooking the lake for their ceremony, which is an ideal choice to provide shade and shelter from the heat of the sun or a passing shower.

The three-pole marquee offered generous space for their 120 guests, laid out in four parallel rows of banqueting tables for a relaxed, sociable feel. Rather than opting for a traditional top table, Emma & Matt chose to sit right in the middle of their guests, a thoughtful choice that kept the atmosphere informal and allowed them to truly enjoy the company of their friends and family throughout the meal.

The style

The couple’s styling was inspired by neutral details and earthy tones, perfectly echoing the surrounding meadow. Soft shades of sage, olive, toffee, caramel, brown and cream flowed through the day — from the mismatched bridesmaids’ dresses to the locally grown, seasonal florals by Tythe Flowers.

Wheat-coloured runners lined the banqueting tables, while the ceremony arch and welcome sign featured lush, flower-heavy statement arrangements. Inside the marquee, Emma & Matt opted for a more natural, pared-back approach, choosing two full greenery clouds suspended above the tables. Packed with seasonal foliage and herbs, they not only looked incredible but filled the marquee with the most wonderful scent.

In a bold and minimalist move, the tables were left free of florals and candles, allowing the beauty of the marquee and the landscape to shine — and leaving plenty of room for the all-important food.

A special personal touch came from Emma & Matt’s family, who hand-built a large green frame to hold the two-sided welcome sign and seating plan. Later in the evening, this was cleverly swapped for a thank-you and goodnight sign, complete with practical details such as taxi numbers.

The prep

The celebrations began the night before with a relaxed bridal-party dinner at The Sun Inn, followed by a restful night in the venue’s sumptuous suites.

On the morning of the wedding, we provided a continental breakfast to fuel the bride and her bridesmaids whilst they enjoyed a joyful morning getting ready together. Bride-squad first looks - and a touching father-of-the-bride reveal - took place in the garden at The Sun ahead of the ceremony.

The ceremony & reception

A close friend of the couple officiated their personal lakeside ceremony, creating a heartfelt and meaningful moment by the water’s edge.

Afterwards, guests enjoyed a relaxed drinks reception on the meadow, with Aperol spritz, bottled beers and fizz flowing freely, accompanied by delicious canapés including courgette fritters, mushroom arancini, mango chicken skewers, and tuna sashimi with ginger dressing.

Photographer Tegan McCann captured beautiful portraits of the couple throughout the afternoon - with the Wild Berry Farm swans making a surprise appearance as honorary guests - before friends and family were seated for dinner.

The food

Emma & Matt envisioned a relaxed, abundant sharing feast with a Mediterranean feel, and it was every bit as delicious as it sounds.

The meal began with mezze sharing platters featuring olives, vine leaves, flatbreads with baba ghanoush and beetroot houmous, grilled halloumi, and tomatoes with sumac and pine nuts.

For the main course, guests helped themselves to generous dishes of smoked lamb with tzatziki and chicken souvlaki with oregano, garlic and lemon, alongside grilled Mediterranean vegetables with burrata, chilli and basil, roast new potatoes with herbs and lemon, and a fresh Greek salad.

Dessert took the form of a relaxed grazing table, filled with individual brownies and cheesecakes, alongside local cheeses sourced by the couple from their favourite London deli.

The party

As the sun dipped low over the lake, we served a his & hers cocktail hour, with Margaritas and Palomas proving a huge hit as guests prepared for the evening celebrations.

Emma & Matt’s first dance was a real showstopper. Having spent hours rehearsing a routine choreographed by Best Wedding Waltzes in Sydney, their performance included lifts and spins that were executed flawlessly, a true wow moment.

The incredible Deloreons band kept the dancefloor packed all night long, even taking and playing requests on demand, seriously impressive for a six-piece band. With laughter, dancing, plenty of shots, and nonstop energy, it was the perfect finale to our 2025 wedding season.

Couple Testimonial

“Just over two years ago, we visited the Lakeside at Wild Berry Farm, and honestly, it was love at first sight. We feel so incredibly lucky that we happened to visit on a day when another wedding was taking place because seeing the venue come alive just sealed the deal for us.

We were warmly greeted by Hannah from Fields & Festoons, whose genuine love and passion for the venue was absolutely infectious. She didn't need to do much selling because the venue just spoke for itself. The gorgeous combination of open fields, that beautiful lake, and the lovely marquees ticked every single box on our must have list. But honestly, what we loved most was finding people who cared about our wedding as much as we did. That meant absolutely everything to us.

Working with all the local vendors was like watching a little family come together. Everyone was so lovely and genuinely invested in making our day absolutely perfect. The love and care from everyone involved was overwhelming in the best possible way.

Our wedding day was everything we had dreamed of and so much more. We're still floating on cloud nine! The swans emerged from the lake to make their VIP guest appearance. The staff from The Sun Inn were absolutely phenomenal, so warm, friendly, and looked after everyone brilliantly. The whole atmosphere was filled with so much love and joy.

We cannot express enough gratitude to our photographer and wedding planner, who were truly the backbone of our entire celebration. Their incredible organisation, commitment, and ability to keep us calm and relaxed throughout the day will be appreciated for the rest of our lives. They brought our vision to life with such incredible attention to detail and genuine care. You could feel the love they put into everything.

Every single element was absolutely perfect. The venue, the team, the vendors, the setting, everything came together in the most magical way possible. Lakeside by Wild Berry Farm and the entire team created the most special, love filled day of our lives.

We cannot recommend The Lakeside by Wild Berry highly enough - it is worth EVERY penny!”
